You're new to PeeK'in and wondering what best practices to adopt when it comes to managing lost and found items. Here are the 5 tips we can give you :
Choose the right packaging
To avoid possible damage during transport, and because packages can sometimes fall from several metres high en route, we recommend that you give priority:
If it's a fragile item 📱💻👓
(ex: glasses, smartphone, tablet...)
➡️ A cardboard box.
Take care to put it in a foam envelope first and make sure it's well wedged with packing sheets.
If the object is not very fragile 🧸 👕👗
(ex : comforters, clothes...)
➡️ A textile pouch or foam envelope
Separate Economy and Express parcels
It sometimes happens that parcels are handed to the wrong courier (e.g. a UPS parcel is handed to a La Poste courier by mistake).
To avoid this situation, we recommend that you create two separately labelled areas in your storage location
Economy (Parcel Force)
The carrier will collect the parcel directly from your hotel reception on the date indicated in the item description.
Express (FedEx)
The carrier will collect the parcel directly from your hotel reception on the date indicated in the item description.
Feel free to print a document to display at the parcel departure area to clearly distinguish the economy and express services.
💡 If the carrier didn't show up, or the parcel wasn't ready when they came by, click on "Request recollection" in the item's file. We will reschedule a collection with the courier.
Fill in the exact weight and dimensions of your parcel
Weight and dimensions are information that determine the shipping quote from our transport partners.
Consequently, if the weight recorded in PeeK'in is less than the actual weight, the courrier is entitled to refuse the parcel. A surcharge may be applied, which is usually paid by the company responsible for the error.
It's best to avoid registration errors 😉
Be sure to enter the weight in grams, not kgs!
Don't forget to enclose customs documents (proforma invoice and CN23)
Shipments outside the EU zone are subject to customs controls. If a customs document is missing, the parcel may be returned to the sender. We will then ask you to arrange a new shipment.
This can be avoided...
To do so, please make sure you
to print the number of copies indicated in PeeK'in
=> 3 for the proforma invoice
=> 4 for the CN23
date and sign each copy
place all documents in the document pocket on the packaging (and not in the parcel) so that they are accessible during customs checks
Write the item reference to avoid returns
Sometimes parcels are returned at the time of dispatch! Not ideal 😬
We then have to contact customers to recover their items so that we can return them to their rightful owners.
To avoid this, we recommend that you write the reference number of the item found on the zip bag. As each item has a unique reference it will reduce mistakes!
